On Wednesdays We Eat Chocolate

I mean, don’t we? If you don’t, then you should. But don’t worry, I’ve done the research for you. On one particularly awesome day, I found myself in Kroger’s “natural” section with a hankering for something delicious, sweet, chocolately. It’s all in the name of the blog, people. I do this for YOU. No need to thank me. Just get thee to your local grocery and get your hot mitts (but not too hot! Sugar melts, homies) on this heavenly chocolate.

I narrowed my search to some I had tried before and some that were new to me. And believe me, there were more chocolate bars left behind. But how many chocolate bars does one need to eat? According to my pants, six was the limit. Let’s get started!

This one is my go-to chocolate bar when you need a little crunch. The Dark Chocolate Dream one is smooth, creamy, and not too dark. You guys know what I mean. What’s a veg-head got to do to get vegan milk chocolate? Are we doomed to dark chocolate forever?

I could not WAIT to dig into this one. I have been missing a damn peanut butter cup like the deserts miss the rain. I always thought Justin’s wasn’t vegan, but I guess I was looking at the milk chocolate ones. This was AMAZING. A great balance of chocolate to peanut butter, which is one of the greatest food combinations known to mankind. These will definitely be bought again.

This is also a go-to bar for me. It’s not too dark and is perfectly delicious. It’s also smaller than many of the other ones, which, if you’re taste-testing bars, is a bonus.

This brand had so many flavors to choose from! I was amazed. I chose the cherry one because cherry anything is yummy. I found this one to be slightly alcohol-flavored, and not in the best way. I eventually got used to it, but at first bite it definitely threw me for a loop.

This brand also has many flavors to choose from, but if it’s a choice, I go coconut or go home. I feel bad for people that don’t like coconut because it is just so damn delicious. This was just alright, nothing too great to write about. The coconut flavor was very subtle, and maybe I was hoping for an Almond Joy sort of situation.

I was surprised about how much I really liked this one. Crunchy, which reminded me of the old school Hershey’s Krackle bars. I felt like if I was going to eat chocolate, at least there was an awesome superfood like quinoa in it! Go me! That makes it healthy, right?

Has anyone tried these chocolate bars? What are you favorite vegan chocolates?

  1. Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups rock! Love them so much! I think Theo is a wonderful brand. Love that they are Fair Trade and all that jazz. I’ve tried most of their vegan bars and love just about all of them, but if you’re looking for an Almond Joy, you have to get your hands on the Mahalo bar from Go Max Go. Not sure if you’ve heard of the brand, but they basically make vegan versions of non-vegan favorites. Right now they have a Snickers (Jokerz), a Milky Way (Twilight), a Crunch (Snap!), a Reese’s (Cleo’s), a Butterfingers (Thumbs Up!), a Three Muskateers (Buccaneer) and the Almond Joy (Mahalo). I’ve tried all of them and the Mahalo is amazing. Oh, and they aren’t dark chocolate; they are (rice) milk chocolate. Sorry for the novel if you’ve already heard of them πŸ™‚

    1. This may be the best news I’ve received of late! You rock, Rachel! My Almond Joy love knows no bounds, so I will be ordered from Go Max Go post haste πŸ™‚ YUM!
